Chapter 17 - The Battle of Lake Forest|

Outside the mansion, the rose gardens were lit by blinding flares and flashing muzzles.

Victor Vance had brought thirty heavily armed Genovese mercenaries, attempting to overwhelm the estate before city authorities could respond.

But Matthew Castille was not a man who fought defensively.

Castille tactical guards, trained by former elite military specialists, held the heavy stone terraces, firing down into the fog with ruthless efficiency.

Matthew stepped onto the grand terrace, a submachine gun in his hands, his face set in a terrifying mask of absolute death.

Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat!

Matthew unleashed a lethal spray of gunfire, dropping three mercenaries advancing up the marble steps.

"Vance!" Matthew’s voice boomed across the garden, carrying over the roar of gunfire like thunder. "You came to my home! Now you die on my land!"

Through the smoke, Victor Vance stepped out from behind a stone fountain, holding a heavy assault rifle, his face twisted in desperate rage.

"Castille!" Victor screamed, raising his weapon. "Your bloodline ends tonight!"

Before Victor could pull his trigger, Rocco vaulted over the terrace railing, driving a heavy combat blade through Victor’s shoulder, disarming him instantly.

Matthew walked down the stone steps slowly, his heavy boots crushing the fallen rose petals, stopping two feet from where Victor lay bleeding on the marble path.
