Rocco burst through the master suite door, holding an automatic rifle. "Boss! Victor Vance brought three armored trucks through the south perimeter! They breached the iron gates!"
Mia sat up in bed, holding her stomach, her dark eyes wide with terror as distant gunfire began echoing across the gardens—Bang-bang-bang!
Matthew turned to face her, stepping quickly to the side of the bed, cupping her face in his hands.
"Stay inside this room with Dr. Mercer," Matthew commanded, his gray eyes burning with fierce, protective authority. "The doors are three-inch solid steel with independent deadbolts. No one gets through."
"Matthew, please be careful!" Mia wept, holding his sleeve.
