Chapter 13 - Silent Rescue

The heavy metal doors of the warehouse blew inward with a deafening crash as Dante kicked them open, followed instantly by his tactical team. The captors barely had time to draw their weapons before Dante crossed the room with lethal speed, disarming the lead thug and pinning him against the concrete pillar.
Within seconds, the room was secured. Dante rushed to Elena’s side, his hands shaking as he cut the ropes binding her wrists. "Are you alright? Did they hurt you?" he asked, his voice thick with raw emotion.
Elena rubbed her wrists, looking up at him with tears shimmering in her eyes. Instead of trembling, she reached up and placed her hand gently against his cheek, feeling the rapid, heavy thrum of his heartbeat beneath her palm. She wrote on her notepad with a steady hand: I knew you would come. I saw it in your eyes the day we met. Dante pulled her into a fierce, protective embrace, burying his face in her hair as the terrifying ordeal finally came to an end.
