Chapter 12 - The Syndicate’s Threat

Though Victor Vance was behind bars, a desperate splinter cell of his remaining loyalists attempted one final, reckless act of vengeance. Knowing how important Elena had become to Dante, they tracked her movements during a rare afternoon trip into the city and ambushed her car outside a quiet bookstore, whisking her away before Dante’s detail could react.

When Dante received the emergency call, the world around him went completely black with rage. Security cameras from nearby shops showed the license plate of the getaway van.

Dante didn't hesitate. He mobilized every single loyal captain, enforcer, and asset under his command, turning Chicago upside down within minutes. He knew where they would go—an abandoned brick warehouse down by the old railyard where Victor’s gang used to operate.

Inside the dark, damp warehouse, Elena sat tied to a wooden chair. Her hands were bound, but her eyes remained sharp, scanning the shadows, reading the nervous lips of her two captors as they argued frantically about what to do now that Dante Moretti was hunting them down.
