Chapter 27 - The Wedding in the OrchardOn a magnificent, sun-drenched Saturday in September, our wedding took place right beneath the spreading branches of the apple orchard in our backyard.

The rustic wooden arbor was draped in cascading white tulle, ivy, and blooming autumn roses.
Over eighty of our closest friends, local community leaders, fellow deputies from the sheriff’s department, and federal colleagues sat on wooden benches arranged across the lush green grass.
Chloe walked down the aisle first, wearing a delicate white lace dress with a flower crown in her hair, tossing pink petals with absolute, beaming concentration. Lucas followed right behind her in a sharp miniature dark-blue suit, carrying the wooden ring box with solemn, proud dignity.
Then, Elena appeared at the start of the grass path, walking on the arm of her father.
She wore a breathtaking, custom-tailored off-the-shoulder ivory lace gown that caught the warm afternoon breeze, her hazel eyes shining with happy tears as she looked toward the altar.
I stood waiting in my tailored dark-blue suit, my heart swelling with profound gratitude.
When Elena reached the altar, her father placed her hand gently into mine.
"Take care of my girl, David," he whispered.
"Always," I replied with absolute conviction.

Our vows were spoken simply, honestly, and straight from the heart—promises of protection, patience, unwavering support, and an everlasting home where love would always reign supreme.
When the minister pronounced us husband and wife, I pulled Elena into a passionate, breathtaking kiss while Lucas and Chloe cheered at the top of their lungs and our guests erupted into thunderous, standing applause.
