CHAPTER 31

CHAPTER 31
THE GIRL WHO WAS NEVER BURIED
Nathaniel felt the world disappear.
"Where?"
Victoria looked toward the entrance.
"Ask Richard Vale."
The police moved immediately.
Victoria lowered the gun.
She did not fire.
She simply dropped it.
The tactical officers rushed in.
Lily ran into Elena's arms.
Elena held her so tightly the child began crying.
"Mommy, I was scared."
"I'm here."
"That lady said I wasn't really yours."
Elena kissed her hair.
"Nothing can change that."
Nathaniel approached Victoria as officers handcuffed her.
"Where is my daughter?"
Victoria looked at him.
"I don't know."
"Then who does?"
"Richard Vale."
"Why?"
"Because he paid for the records to be changed."
Victoria's voice cracked.
"He believed June was worth more alive than dead."
Nathaniel stared.
"Where is she?"
May you like
Victoria whispered:
"She was raised under another name."
