Chapter 13 - Winter's WarmthWinter descended upon the Ohio suburbs, covering the lawns in crisp white snow and frosting the windows of David’s estate.

The holidays brought an abundance of joy, laughter, and healing. Lily’s hair had begun to grow back in soft, healthy waves, and her smile radiated a bright, untroubled happiness that warmed every corner of the house.
On Christmas Eve, Sarah joined them for a traditional family dinner.
After dinner, while Lily was upstairs organizing her presents, David and Sarah stood by the massive decorated Christmas tree in the living room, watching the soft amber lights reflect off the glass ornaments.
David reached into his coat pocket, pulling out a small velvet box.
Sarah turned, her breath catching slightly as David dropped gently onto one knee on the hardwood floor.
"Sarah," David said, his voice steady, deep, and filled with absolute devotion. "You walked into our lives when we were surrounded by shadows, and you brought light, patience, and unconditional love. Will you be our forever? Will you marry me?"
Tears of pure joy welled in Sarah's eyes, and a radiant smile lit up her face.
"Yes, David," she whispered, throwing her arms around his neck as he slipped the ring onto her finger. "Yes, a million times yes."

From the top of the stairs, a sleepy little voice called out: "Does this mean Sarah is officially our mom now?!"
David and Sarah burst out laughing as Lily ran down the steps in her flannel pajamas to join them in a massive, unbreakable group hug.
