Chapter 7 - THE LAWSUIT AGAINST THE FAMILY
Dr. Sterling’s video became the centerpiece of a civil lawsuit I filed against Tyler and my extended family members who had participated in the verbal assault. The suit aimed to hold them accountable for the damages incurred, including medical costs, emotional distress, and the deliberate destruction of my mobility aids. The process was grueling, requiring me to testify about the exact moment I realized my own kin preferred a show over my humanity.
The lawsuit forced the family to choose sides. Aunt Linda, Uncle Richard, and Jake were served with depositions, their faces appearing on legal documents that compelled them to explain their actions under oath. Many of them tried to backpedal, claiming they were "just joking" or "didn't really mean it," but their own recorded laughter remained as permanent, damning evidence of their participation in the bullying.
