Chapter 8 - The Federal RaidBefore Dominic could react or raise his hand against her, the heavy oak front door of the apartment splintered inward with a deafening crash.

"FBI! Federal agents! Nobody move!"

Flashbang grenades detonated in the foyer, filling the luxury apartment with blinding white light and thunderous sound. Tactical operators in full body armor swarmed through the rooms like a disciplined swarm of hornets, subduing Dominic before he could take a single step toward his hidden wall safe. He was slammed face-first onto the imported hardwood floor, cold steel handcuffs snapping tightly around his wrists.

Agent Park strode through the clearing smoke, stepping calmly over shattered wood to stand beside Norah. He checked her over quickly, offering an approving nod. "You alright, Mrs. Callahan?"

"Never better, Agent Park," Norah replied steadily, stepping back as Dominic was hauled violently to his feet, cursing furiously, his expensive Italian suit ruined by the dust of his own empire's collapse.

As federal agents systematically cataloged the apartment, drilling open the master bedroom wall safe to recover the encrypted master hard drives, financial ledgers, and illicit bearer bonds, Dominic was dragged toward the shattered doorway. He locked eyes with Norah one final time, his face twisted in utter disbelief and hatred. "You ruined us, Norah! You ruined our child's future!"

"Our child will grow up knowing the truth," Norah said calmly, resting a protective hand over her gently rounding stomach. "And you will spend the rest of your life reading about my success from a federal prison cell."

The door closed behind him as the agents escorted him out into the night, leaving Norah standing alone in the quiet, echoing shell of the apartment where her old life had finally died.
