Chapter 14 - The Final AuditWith Dominic locked away behind the impenetrable walls of ADX Florence and his illegal assets completely liquidated or seized by federal receivership, the financial restructuring of Norah’s life reached its formal conclusion.

Arthur Sterling presented the final audit documents in her West Village apartment living room—now bathed in natural afternoon light, entirely free of ghosts. The federal government, recognizing Norah’s pivotal cooperation and extensive documentation in dismantling the transnational syndicate, formally awarded her a substantial whistleblower bounty drawn from the recovered forfeiture funds.

Furthermore, her pre-marital ownership of the West Village apartment and her newly established independent trust fund ensured that she and Leo would never experience financial vulnerability again. She wasn't living off the tainted spoils of a criminal husband; she was living off the legally vindicated restitution of her own rightful independence.

"It’s all officially signed and sealed, Norah," Arthur smiled warmly, handing over a leather-bound folio containing her finalized divorce decree and asset titles. "You are officially the sole owner of everything, and Dominic’s legal appeals have all been summarily dismissed by the appellate court."

"Thank you, Arthur," Norah said, shaking his hand firmly. "For everything."

After Arthur left, Norah walked over to the nursery where baby Leo was napping peacefully in his crib. She stood in the doorway for a long moment, watching his chest rise and fall in steady rhythm. The nightmare of the keys in the lock, the laughter in the bedroom, and the black sedan parked across the street felt like events from a distant lifetime.
