Chapter 7 - The Confrontation at the ApartmentMidnight hung heavy over the West Village as Norah stepped out of a federal surveillance van, a concealed audio-video recording rig strapped securely beneath her heavy wool coat. An encrypted transmitter connected her directly to Agent Park and a tactical extraction unit stationed three blocks away. She climbed the familiar marble steps of her apartment building, slid her brass key into the front door lock, and pushed it open.

The apartment was pitch black, lit only by the distant neon glow of the city skyline piercing through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

"Norah?"

A voice echoed from the darkened hallway. Dominic stepped out from the shadows of the master bedroom, holding a highball glass of scotch, looking disheveled and frantic. When he saw her standing in the foyer, relief flooded his features, swiftly morphing back into his characteristic domineering arrogance.

"Where the hell have you been?!" Dominic demanded, striding forward to grab her by the shoulders. "Do you have any idea what kind of pressure I'm under? Disappearing like that—leaving me to clean up whatever paranoid delusions you cooked up!"

Norah didn't flinch. She stared up into his eyes, her gaze as cold as arctic ice. She stepped out of his grip, walking slowly toward the living room bar. "I went to visit Ranata, Dominic."

Dominic froze mid-step, his scotch glass halting halfway to his mouth. "What did you say?"

"I said I visited Ranata," Norah repeated clearly, her voice transmitting every syllable straight to Agent Park’s tactical recording deck blocks away. "She signed a full federal cooperation affidavit, Dominic. She gave up the shell companies, the Cayman accounts, and your primary encryption keys."

A terrifying, murderous expression twisted Dominic’s handsome features. The charismatic businessman vanished entirely, replaced by a desperate, cornered predator. "You stupid, ungrateful bitch," he hissed, lunging forward with terrifying speed, his hand clamping around her wrist with bruising force. "You just destroyed everything I built! You think you can ruin me and walk away?!"

"I'm not walking away, Dominic," Norah whispered defiantly, looking straight into his dilated, panicked eyes while pressing the emergency transmit button hidden in her coat pocket. "I’m watching you fall."
