Chapter 11 - The Boardroom War|

The snow fell heavily over Chicago at nine o'clock the following morning, turning Michigan Avenue into a slick, grey landscape.
Inside the grand glass tower of Moretti Global, twenty-four board members sat around the massive oval marble table on the eightieth floor.
Marcus Vance sat at the far end, wearing a fresh suit, a triumphant, arrogant smirk playing on his lips. Beside him sat three senior directors who had long sought to divide Moretti Global’s shipping assets for private liquidation.
"Dante Moretti is absent," Marcus announced loudly to the room, looking at his gold watch. "He has abandoned his duties to pursue a personal romantic retreat in Wisconsin while our stock dips three points. Under Bylaw 4B, I move to initiate an immediate vote to remove him as Managing Chairman."
"Seconded," Director Vance—Marcus's uncle—chimed in immediately.
"Hold your vote," a clear, powerful female voice rang out from the back of the room.
The heavy double glass doors swung open.
Alina walked into the boardroom.
She wore a tailored charcoal wool suit, her dark hair pinned back in an elegant chignon, her posture regal, calm, and absolute.
Behind her stepped two senior federal auditors and two security officers carrying thick leather binders.
The entire boardroom went dead silent. Marcus’s smirk vanished instantly, his face turning pale as he stared at my wife.

"Mrs. Moretti?" Director Vance stuttered, standing up. "This is a private board meeting—"
"I am aware of what this is, Director Vance," Alina said smoothly, her voice carrying a sharp, commanding authority that echoed off the glass walls. "And as the sole legal trustee of the Vance Manufacturing voting proxy, I hold a fifteen-percent voting stake in this corporation."
