Chapter 6 - The Maid’s SurveillanceThat evening, during the shift change when the hospital staff was distracted by a simultaneous code-blue drill on the third floor, Grace Miller slipped back into Dominic’s room carrying a heavy mop bucket. She closed the door, locked it, and dropped to her knees beside the bed.

“I got it, Mr. Moretti,” she whispered, pulling a small, encrypted USB drive from inside her cleaning apron and sliding it onto the mattress. “My brother hacked into the hospital’s executive parking garage security logs. Look at who visited Veronica’s car on the night of the crash.”
Dominic slowly slid his right hand off the edge of the mattress, snatching the drive and slipping it beneath his pillow. “Did you get the phone records?”
“I tried,” Grace replied, her brow furrowing with anxiety. “Her phone is encrypted with military-grade software. But I overheard her talking to Marcus on the landline in the nurse’s station while she thought everyone was at lunch. She said the federal wire transfer from the Swiss bank account clears at midnight on Thursday. Once that money hits her account in Zurich, she’s booking a private jet to Geneva.”
Dominic’s eyes flashed. Thursday midnight. That gave them less than thirty-six hours to strike before the capital vanished across international borders beyond the reach of American courts.
“Grace,” Dominic said, his voice stronger now, the vocal cords healing with sheer willpower. “In my briefcase—the one recovered from the crash, currently sitting in the administrator’s safe—there is a physical titanium key card. It overrides every security protocol at Moretti Holdings headquarters.”
“The safe in the basement archives?” Grace asked, her eyes widening.
“Yes. You need to steal it back tonight.”

Grace swallowed hard, color draining from her face. “If security catches me in the administrative vault, I won't just lose my job, Mr. Moretti. I’ll be arrested.”
Dominic reached out, his hand gripping her wrist with surprising force. The authority in his grip was undeniable. “You won't be arrested, Grace. Because by the time anyone checks that vault, I’ll be sitting in the CEO’s chair. And the people who put you in danger will be wearing handcuffs.”
