The Man in the Coma / Chapter 12 / 15

Chapter 12 - The Boardroom CoupFriday morning. The exact deadline Veronica had whispered by his hospital bed: “Die before Friday, Dominic.”

Instead of a funeral, the morning papers blared headlines across the nation: BILLIONAIRE DOMINIC MORETTI SURVIVES ASSASSINATION PLOT; FIANCEE AND COUSIN ARRESTED IN MASSIVE CORPORATE FRAUD.

Dominic sat at the head of the mahogany table in the main auditorium, surrounded by thirty international investors, major stakeholders, and federal prosecutors. The air was electric with anticipation.

“Gentlemen,” Dominic began, his voice deep, resonant, and carrying the unshakable weight of authority. “Over the past week, this corporation faced an existential threat—not from market volatility or foreign competitors, but from the cancer within our own walls. That cancer has been surgically removed.”

He clicked a remote control in his hand. The massive projection screen behind him lit up, displaying the frozen offshore accounts, the forged trust documents, and the damning audio recordings of Veronica and Marcus conspiring to seize control of the company.

“Moretti Holdings was built on a foundation of unyielding strength, absolute truth, and unbreakable loyalty,” Dominic continued, scanning the room as every investor nodded in solemn agreement. “From this day forward, our vetting protocols will be rewritten from the ground up. Anyone who places greed above integrity will find themselves sharing a jail cell with my former relatives.”

The applause that erupted in the auditorium was deafening. It wasn't just polite corporate clapping; it was the sound of an apex predator reclaiming his territory, stronger, wiser, and more ruthless than ever before.
