The Man in the Coma / Chapter 14 / 15

Chapter 14 - Friday's ReckoningBy Friday evening, the rain had cleared away, leaving New York City washed in brilliant, crisp autumn sunlight. The lights of the skyline sparkled against the twilight sky like diamonds scattered across black velvet.

Dominic stood on the private helipad atop the Moretti Tower, the cool evening wind whipping through his dark hair. He wore a crisp black wool coat, his posture straight and unyielding. He looked down at the city stretching out beneath him—every skyscraper, every bridge, every street corner a testament to what he had built through relentless hard work and unbreakable resolve.

They had tried to bury him. They had tried to turn his life, his love, and his empire into a graveyard. But monsters forged in the harsh fires of betrayal don't die easily. They return to reclaim their throne.

His phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and looked at the screen. It was a text message from Grace Miller: “Thank you for everything, Mr. Moretti. I’m moving to Boston tomorrow to open my own bakery. Starting a new chapter.”

Dominic smiled—a genuine, rare smile that reached his eyes. He tapped out a brief reply: “Build it strong, Grace. And never let anyone tell you you're invisible.”

He slid the phone back into his pocket, turning his gaze toward the horizon where the stars were beginning to emerge above the Atlantic.
