Chapter 9 - Panic on the Line

Caught off guard, Caleb's phone suddenly rang. Glancing at the screen, which displayed an incoming call from Northstar Capital Group, he answered defensively. As he listened, his expression drained of color. “No. That's not possible,” he stammered into the phone.
Nia watched him closely as he panicked, demanding to know who had informed the board. Realizing his massive slip of the tongue, Caleb tried to cover it, but Nia stepped closer, demanding to know why he mentioned the board. Before he could recover, his phone rang again—this time calling him directly from a senior executive named Mr. Hardrove.
Answering immediately, Caleb went entirely pale, whispering that he understood and lying that she didn't know the full structure yet. Nia's eyes locked onto Adrien, who closed his folder and stated plainly that the trust was far more than mere protection—it was corporate leverage.
