Chapter 5 - The Mysterious Call
Sitting upright on the couch, Nia demanded to know who he was and why he was calling her. Adrien explained that he handled family and corporate matters for Northstar Capital Group, adding that he had seen something in her file that her husband should never have been able to access. Nia's heart skipped a beat as she asked what file he was referring to.
Adrien informed her that medical, legal, and financial records were involved, dropping a bombshell that a private trust account existed in her name. Nia froze, whispering, “A what?” Adrien confirmed it was a trust established years ago, noting that her husband appeared to have recently learned about it and had been attempting to position himself near it.
Nia insisted she had never told Caleb about any trust, to which Adrien replied that he knew, leaving the burning question of how Caleb had found out. Adrien agreed to meet her within twenty minutes to explain everything in person, carrying a slim black folder that would pull back the curtain on her husband's true intentions.
