Chapter 8 - Confrontation at the Apartment
That evening, the heavy pounding of a fist shook the door of Lena's apartment. “Nia! I know you're in there!” Caleb's voice boomed from the hallway. Nia froze, realizing the old version of herself would have opened the door seeking explanations, but that woman was gone.
Adrien stood up, offering to handle him, and Nia took a steady breath before giving her consent. When Adrien opened the door slightly, Caleb glared at him and demanded to know who he was. Calmly, Adrien introduced himself, noting that bringing legal representation seemed appropriate since Caleb had brought another woman into a hospital room while his wife was recovering.
Pushing past to look at Nia, Caleb pleaded for a moment, but she stepped forward, asking what he wanted. When he claimed he came to fix things, Nia listed his betrayals—the affair, the hospital records, the contact settings, and the corporate access to her trust. The shift in Caleb's face proved he had been caught red-handed.
