Chapter 7 - Echoes of RegretEthan returned to the ranch the following day, his heart lighter but his determination stronger than ever. He sat down with Mason and explained everything honestly.

"I found Lena, buddy," Ethan said, kneeling down to his son's eye level. "And I told her how much we need her. Not just to help us, but because I love her."

Mason’s face lit up with a brilliant smile. "Is she coming home?"

"She needs a little time to trust me," Ethan admitted. "I made her feel invisible for a long time, Mason. I have to prove to her that things will be different."

"You can do it, Dad," Mason said firmly, hugging his father tightly. "Just don't give up."

Over the next two weeks, Ethan transformed the ranch. He hired a full-time management service to handle the administrative workload that Lena had previously shouldered alone. He redecorated the main house, removing the lingering shadows of grief and preparing a bright, welcoming space.

Every evening, he called Lena. They spoke for hours about their days, their hopes, and the future. The distance between them shrank with every shared laugh and quiet confession.
