Chapter 9 - THE REBRANDING OF A QUEEN
Thursday morning, the grand ballroom of the city’s premier downtown hotel was packed to absolute capacity. Over a hundred journalists, financial analysts, tech leaders, and civic officials sat under the glittering chandeliers, cameras flashing rhythmically as the media buzzed with anticipation.
On the massive LED screen behind the stage, bold, elegant silver letters gleamed under dramatic spotlights: AETHER HOLDINGS: THE FUTURE OF ARCHITECTURE & INNOVATION.
Backstage, I stood before the full-length mirror, adjusting the lapels of my crisp ivory suit. My hand was completely healed under a sleek, minimalist flesh-toned medical wrap. The ghosts of the backyard barbecue felt a lifetime away.
Marcus walked into the green room, holding a tablet displaying live broadcast metrics. “Elena, we have over two million concurrent viewers online. Every major news network is carrying the live feed. Are you ready?”
“Born ready,” I said, picking up my presentation notes.
When my name was announced, the applause thundered through the ballroom like rolling thunder. I walked out onto the stage with my head held high, shoulders back, projecting absolute grace and unshakable authority. I didn't look like a victim. I looked like an empress reclaiming her throne.
I stepped up to the podium, looking out across the sea of flashing cameras and eager reporters.
“Good morning,” I began, my voice clear, resonant, and steady, echoing through the massive hall. “Ten years ago, a company was built on the foundation of innovation, integrity, and shared vision. Over the past few years, that vision was compromised by greed, ego, and a profound misunderstanding of who actually built the foundation.”
In the front row, several financial journalists leaned forward, hanging on every word.

The applause that followed was deafening. Standing ovations swept through the ballroom. Flashbulbs blinded me from all angles, capturing the triumphant smile of a woman who had risen straight out of the ashes.
