Chapter 15 - THE BRIGHTEST FLAME

The wedding was everything my first marriage hadn't been: intimate, authentic, filled with genuine laughter, and surrounded by people who truly loved and respected us.
We held the ceremony at a stunning botanical glasshouse overlooking the ocean, bathed in soft afternoon sunlight and surrounded by blooming white roses and lush green ferns. There were no fake corporate elites, no bitter in-laws demanding servitude, and no toxic power games. Just our closest friends, Marcus officiating the ceremony with a witty, heartfelt speech, and an atmosphere bursting with pure, unadulterated joy.
I wore a breathtaking, custom-designed ivory lace gown that shimmered under the glass ceiling. When David and I exchanged our vows, our voices were strong, clear, and steady.
“You may now kiss the bride,” Marcus announced with a grin.
As David pulled me close and kissed me softly beneath the canopy of white roses, the entire room erupted into thunderous applause, cheers, and joyful tears.
Later that evening, during the reception dinner, guests raised their glasses in heartfelt toasts celebrating our future. My hand—once burned and scarred by cruelty—now wore a dazzling platinum wedding band next to my diamond ring. Those old scars were no longer a mark of pain; they were the battle-tested roadmap of how I found my true strength.
Standing on the terrace with David by my side, looking out over the sparkling ocean waves under a canopy of brilliant stars, I realized something profound.
Ivan had tried to destroy me with fire, believing I would burn away into ash.

He didn't realize that I was never the fuel.
I was the spark. And the fire I started would light my way forever.
