Chapter 8 - The Shattered ReflectionThe blinding light faded.

Lily collapsed onto the plush red carpet, gasping for air, her real face glowing softly under the chandelier light. The crescent scar on her left wrist was plainly visible.

Williams dropped the candelabra, rushing to his knees beside her, pulling her into his arms.

“Lily!” Williams sobbed, pressing his face into her hair. “Oh God, Lily! I’m so sorry... I’m so sorry I didn't see it sooner!”

Lily wrapped her trembling arms around his neck, weeping tears of pure, overwhelming relief. “You came for me... Benson... you came for me...”

Behind them, a sharp CRACK rang out.

Everyone turned to look at the mirror.

Trapped inside the dark, cracked glass was Brenda. Her hands beat frantically against the thick barrier, but no sound escaped. Behind her, the dark shadow wrapped around her shoulders, pulling her deeper into the endless, silent void of the mirror’s reflection.

With one final, violent fracture, the ancient mirror shattered into ten thousand tiny shards of harmless silver glass, locking Brenda inside the dark dimension forever.
