Chapter 4 - The Ancient HeirloomThe spirit’s words exploded in Lily’s mind like thunder.

Her grandmother, Victoria Vale, had been a renowned artisan in the 1920s who crafted enchanted artifacts to protect her family’s bloodline. Brenda’s grandmother had been a servant who murdered Victoria and stole her heirloom collection, including the mirrored glass.
The curse Brenda used was never designed for her. It was a trap built into the mirror to catch any imposter who tried to steal from the Vale bloodline!
Inside the ballroom, the priest raised his hands.
“We are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony,” the priest began, his voice echoing over the quiet crowd.
Williams looked at the bride’s hand resting in his. He noticed something wrong.
Lily had a small, faint crescent-shaped scar on her left wrist from a childhood painting accident—a mark he had kissed a hundred times.
The wrist of the woman standing before him was completely smooth.
Williams’ eyes narrowed. “Where is your scar, Lily?”
Brenda’s breath hitched for a fraction of a second. She quickly pulled her lace glove higher. “I... I had a cosmetic treatment last week, darling. I wanted to look perfect for you.”
