Chapter 5 - The Sabotaged BlueprintBy 8:00 a.m. the following morning, Adam’s white Rivera Repairs van was parked two blocks down from the high-rise glass headquarters of Holloway & Whitmore Development in downtown Columbus.

Inside the van, Adam sat with Audrey and Pete Marsh—a veteran corporate lawyer and old friend of Adam’s who specialized in exposing corporate fraud.
Pete turned the final page of the original ledger, letting out a low whistle through his teeth. “This is airtight, Adam. These signed land deeds predate Arthur Whitmore’s fraudulent restructuring by ten years. Grant Whitmore has been using stolen assets as collateral for a two-hundred-million-dollar loan from international investors.”
“What happens if we present this to the board?” Audrey asked, her fingers nervously picking at the hem of her jacket.
“If you present this at the annual shareholder gala tomorrow night,” Pete explained, “Grant’s board will have no choice but to strip him of his CEO title immediately. But Grant is dangerous. If he suspects you have this ledger before the meeting, his lawyers will file an injunction to freeze the documents in court for years.”
“Then we don’t let him suspect a thing,” Adam said firmly.
Suddenly, the side door of Adam’s van rattled.
Adam immediately slammed the ledger shut and shoved it into his steel tool chest just as the door slid open.

Standing outside in the rain was Grant Whitmore’s chief security officer, a massive man in a dark suit named Vance, accompanied by two private investigators.
“Mister Rivera,” Vance said, his voice flat and menacing. “Mister Whitmore requested that we perform a quick safety inspection of your vehicle. He believes you removed private property from the Holloway apartment yesterday evening.”
