Chapter 9 - THE HOSPITALIZATION OF WYATT

The trauma ward of Heartland Memorial Hospital—a premier medical facility funded largely by confidential grants from my foundation—was placed under lockdown the moment our ambulance arrived.

Top-tier orthopedic surgeons, vascular specialists, and toxicologists were already scrubbed and waiting in the emergency surgical suite. The initial diagnostic scans confirmed our worst fears: the compound fracture of Wyatt’s right knee had severely damaged the tibial plateau and severed several surrounding ligaments, while weeks of forced synthetic drug administration had placed an immense, dangerous strain on his liver and kidneys.

The lead orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Harrison, pulled me aside in the sterile white hallway just as the surgical team prepared to wheel Wyatt into the operating room.

“Mr. Yates,” Dr. Harrison said grimly, holding up a digital tablet displaying 3D reconstructions of the knee joint. “The damage inflicted on this joint was calculated and catastrophic. Someone intentionally used a heavy blunt instrument with maximum force to shatter the bone structure. If he had remained in that basement for even another forty-eight hours, the infection would have turned septic, and we would have been forced to amputate the leg above the knee.” My jaw tightened into a rigid line. The desire for vengeance flared hot and bright in my chest, immediately tempered by the cold, calculating discipline of a man who managed massive logistics networks. Destruction of my enemies required more than anger; it required total, systemic annihilation.

“Do whatever is necessary to save his leg, Doctor,” I instructed firmly. “Spare no expense. Bill every operational cost directly to the Palmer estate forfeiture fund.”

Dr. Harrison nodded solemnly and disappeared through the swinging double doors of the operating theater.

While my son fought for his physical future under the bright lights of the surgical suite, my corporate legal army was already executing phase two of the Heartland Protocol across three different states.
