Chapter 10 - UNRAVELING THE PALMER FAMILY FRAUD

Back at Heartland Freight Systems' downtown corporate headquarters in Kansas City, the executive command center was operating at peak capacity under the glow of midnight fluorescent lights.

Marcus Vance had set up a secure operations feed connecting the hospital, the county jail holding cells, and federal prosecutorial offices.

The forensic accounting division had spent the past twenty-four hours cracking open the digital footprints left behind by Irving Palmer and Sabrina. What they uncovered was a staggering web of financial deception that stretched far beyond Wyatt’s software enterprise.

“Boss, take a look at this,” Marcus said, spinning a dual-monitor workstation around so I could examine the ledger mapping.

The screen displayed a complex network of offshore bank accounts in the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands, funneling stolen capital through a dozen shell corporations registered under fake names.

“Irving Palmer wasn’t just a struggling speculator,” Marcus explained, tapping his pen against the desk. “He was the mastermind behind a multi-state corporate raiding syndicate. They target successful, independent business owners, use emotional manipulation or marriage to infiltrate their personal lives, isolate them from trusted advisors, and then use physical coercion or forged legal documents to strip them of their company shares.”

“And Wyatt was their primary target because of his lucrative government cybersecurity contracts,” I added coldly, leaning over the console.

“Exactly,” Marcus nodded. “If they had successfully executed that power of attorney tonight, they would have transferred over forty million dollars in tech equity out of the country by morning, leaving Wyatt legally bankrupt and physically incapacitated.”

Fortunately, Heartland’s preemptive legal architecture had already frozen every single corporate account associated with the Palmer syndicate before a single cent could cross international borders. Furthermore, federal prosecutors had agreed to consolidate all charges into a master federal indictment, ensuring that neither Irving nor Sabrina would ever see the outside of a maximum-security prison cell.
