Chapter 8 - Cracks in the SyndicateâKad, Bisi,â the police inspector stepped forward, pulling out two pairs of heavy steel handcuffs. âYou are both under arrest for grand larceny, federal wire fraud, criminal conspiracy, and identity theft.â
The metallic click-clack of the handcuffs snapping around Kadâs wrists echoed loudly through the room.
Kad wept hysterically as an officer yanked him up from his knees. âSade! Tell them to stop! I love you! I was just confused!â
Sade walked up to him, pulled her diamond engagement ring from her finger, and dropped it into his open, handcuffed palm.
âYou didn't love me, Kad,â Sade whispered coldly into his ear. âYou loved an illusion. And now, you can enjoy reality in a cell.â
Bisi fought wildly as a female officer cuffed her wrists behind her back, screaming obscenities at Sade as she was dragged down the hallway toward the elevator.
Reporters and news camera crews who had been alerted by Chief Tundeâs PR team were waiting in the lobby downstairs.
