Chapter 1 - The Billionaire’s TestSade Adami believed she was the luckiest woman in Lagos.

At twenty-six, she was the sole heiress to Adami Enterprises—a multi-billion-dollar shipping and real estate empire founded by her father, Chief Tunde Adami. Sade was brilliant, kind, and deeply devoted to her inner circle, especially her fiancĂ©, Kad, and her best friend of ten years, Bisi.

Kad was charismatic, impossibly handsome, and effortlessly charming. He claimed his family owned high-end commercial properties in Abuja and spoke constantly about his vision for their future together. He bought Sade expensive flowers, held her hand in public, and treated her like a queen.

Beside her stood Bisi—the woman Sade called her sister. Bisi was always there to offer advice, accompany her to high-society galas, and celebrate her happiness.

There was only one person who refused to buy into Kad’s polished charm: Chief Tunde Adami.

Sitting in his mahogany-paneled library overlooking the Atlantic, Chief Tunde set down his crystal glass of scotch and looked at his daughter.

“Sade, that young man is not being honest with you,” Chief Tunde warned, his voice low and solemn. “Whenever I ask him simple, direct questions about his family’s logistics accounts, his partners, or his tax registrations in Abuja, he dodges. He covers every hole in his story with another grand promise.”

Sade sighed, crossing her arms. “Dad, you’re just being paranoid. Not every man is after your money! Kad loves me for who I am.”

“I fear he is interested in what you own, not who you are, my child,” her father replied softly. “A man who loves you will stand beside you when you have nothing. A man who loves your wealth will vanish the moment the well runs dry.”

Sade shook her head in refusal. “Kad would love me if we lived in a studio apartment.”

Chief Tunde looked at her for a long moment. “Then let us prove it, Sade. Let us run a test.”

“What kind of test?”

“A total financial collapse,” Chief Tunde revealed, a sharp glint in his eyes. “Starting tomorrow, I will announce that federal auditors have frozen all Adami accounts. My private jets will be grounded, our accounts locked, and I will pretend to flee the country to avoid arrest. Let us see how your charming fiancĂ© and your devoted best friend react when they think you are penniless.”

Sade hesitated, her heart racing, but her confidence in Kad made her nod. “Fine. Eight days, Dad. In eight days, when Kad proves his loyalty, you will give us your blessing without another word.”
