Chapter 6 - The Trap is SprungAt eight o'clock sharp, Sade walked back into Kadâs Ikoyi apartment.

She wore a simple, elegant dark navy dress, carrying her leather handbag. Her expression was calm, guarded, and completely unreadable.
Kad was sitting on the leather sofa, wearing a dark shirt, trying to look mournful and regretful. Sitting on the armchair nearby was Bisi, holding a cup of tea, putting on a fake, sorrowful face.
âSade,â Kad spoke softly, standing up. âThank you for coming. Bisi and I were just discussing how difficult things have become for you.â
Bisi nodded, taking a sip of tea. âSade, sweetie... we just think you need time to sort out your fatherâs legal mess alone. Kad shouldn't have his career ruined by your familyâs scandal.â
Sade stood in the middle of the living room, looking at the two of them.
âMy fatherâs scandal?â Sade asked softly.
âWe have to be realistic, Sade,â Kad said, stepping closer with a patronizing sigh. âYour fatherâs empire is gone. All his accounts are seized. Iâm an ambitious manâI canât be tied to a family facing federal prison.â
Sade looked at Bisi. âAnd you agree with him, Bisi?â
Bisi shrugged, setting her cup down with an indifferent smirk. âHonestly, Sade? You were always too trusting. Did you really think a handsome man like Kad would stay with you if you didn't have billions behind your name?â
Sade let out a quiet, sudden laugh.
Kad frowned, confused. âWhatâs so funny?â
May you like
Sade pulled her phone from her handbag and tapped the screen once.
âThe scandal isn't real, Kad,â Sade announced, her voice echoing clearly through the apartment. âMy father never lost a single naira.â
