EPILOGUE

EPILOGUE

One year later.

The seasons had changed.

So had Ethan.

He was stronger now.

He could run.

He could laugh without losing his breath.

For the first time in his life...

He had a future.

On a warm summer afternoon, Sarah drove him to a place he had only seen in his dreams.

The lakeside estate had become peaceful once again.

The old oak tree still stood proudly, its branches swaying gently in the breeze.

The lake shimmered beneath the afternoon sun.

Everything looked exactly as Ethan had imagined.

Except this time...

It was real.

He walked slowly toward the tree.

Sat down beneath its wide canopy.

Closed his eyes.

And placed one hand over his chest.

The wind whispered through the leaves.

The water lapped softly against the shore.

For a long moment...

Neither of them spoke.

Sarah watched her son, her eyes filled with quiet gratitude.

Finally, she smiled.

"What are you listening to?"

Ethan opened his eyes.

A gentle smile spread across his face.

He looked out across the lake.

Then softly answered...

"Home."

The camera slowly pulled away.

A mother.

A son.

An old oak tree.

A peaceful lake.

And a heartbeat...

May you like

That had finally found its way home.

THE END
