Chapter 14 - Mexican StandoffMarco Varga laughed, a harsh, grating sound that bounced off the cold steel walls. "Dante Moretti. I wondered when the neighborhood stray would wander into my trap."

Dante didn't flinch. He slowly handed Arthur over to Elena, stepping forward to shield them both while keeping his assault rifle raised and locked on Marco's chest.
"You're standing on my docks, Marco, and you've got my auditor's father," Dante said calmly, his voice dripping with deadly ice. "I call that a bad investment."
"Your father's data drive is right here in my pocket, Moretti," Marco sneered, tapping his breast pocket. "And once I kill all of you, I'm taking over the North Pier by sunrise."
"You talk too much," Dante whispered.
In a fraction of a second, before Marco could pull his trigger, Dante fired—striking Marco's right shoulder and sending his weapon clattering across the concrete.
Simultaneously, Marcus and the rest of the strike team opened fire from the hallway, neutralizing the Varga enforcements in a thunderous volley of gunfire.

Marco stumbled back, clutching his bleeding shoulder with wide, terrified eyes.
Dante walked up to him, kicked him to his knees, and pressed the barrel of his rifle against Marco's forehead. "Tell your associates the war is over. Next time, I won't aim for the shoulder."
