Chapter 12 - The Cold Storage VaultThe descent into the sub-level brought an immediate drop in temperature. Your breath plumed in the air as white mist.

Rows of stainless-steel meat hooks hung from the ceiling, swinging slightly in the damp draft.

"This way," Elena whispered, leading Dante and Marcus down a narrow corridor lined with reinforced concrete walls.

At the end of the hallway stood a massive titanium vault door equipped with a digital retinal scanner and a numeric keypad.

"This is it," Elena murmured, kneeling before the control panel and pulling out her decryption pad. She connected a data cable into the auxiliary port, her fingers flying across the touch screen.

Access Denied.

"Damn it," Elena whispered, beads of sweat forming on her forehead despite the freezing air. "They've changed the master encryption key."

Dante stepped up behind her, placing a heavy, reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Take a breath, Elena. Look at the code. What pattern would your father use?"

Elena closed her eyes for a second, remembering her father's endless fascination with prime numbers and family dates. Her fingers flew across the keys once more, entering a sequence of twelve digits.
