Chapter 4 - The Great Eviction

"You can't throw me out!" Vanessa shrieked, all pretense of elegance evaporating as her voice rose to a shrill scream. "I have rights! My name is on the wedding registry at the St. Regis! We have four hundred guests arriving next Saturday! My father invested two million dollars into your software venture!"

Daniel pulled his phone from his suit pocket, dialing his chief financial officer on speaker.

"Marcus," Daniel said coldly.

"Morning, Daniel. How was the flight?"

"Cancel the vendor retainers for the St. Regis gala immediately. Issue a formal breach-of-contract notice to Miller Holdings and initiate a full wire refund of Victor Miller's seed capital plus statutory interest."

"Done," Marcus replied without hesitation. "Should I notify corporate legal?"

"Yes. Prepare a comprehensive civil restraining order and an NDA nullification."

Daniel hung up, looking Vanessa dead in the eyes. "Your father's two million dollars represented less than four percent of our seed equity, Vanessa. I kept him on the cap table out of courtesy to you. As of sixty seconds ago, your family has zero connection to my company."

Chloe dropped her champagne flute, the glass shattering onto the flagstones. "Vanessa... let's just go. Please."

Vanessa lunged forward, her manicured nails clawing toward my face. "You miserable old hag! You ruined my life!"

Before her hand could reach me, Daniel caught Vanessa's wrist with an iron grip, twisting it away and stepping firmly between us.

"If you ever step within one hundred feet of my mother again," Daniel growled, his voice vibrating with absolute fury, "I will hand every second of this video to the District Attorney's office and file felony extortion charges against you and your sister. Security is at the front gate. You have ten minutes to collect your clothes from the guest suite."

Two private security guards in dark suits stepped through the garden gate, gesturing toward the driveway.

Weeping with humiliated rage, Vanessa gathered her satin skirt and stormed down the gravel path, Chloe scurrying behind her in terror.
