Chapter 17 - The Proposal|
Isa stared at the black diamond glowing in the velvet box, tears of overwhelming joy instantly filling her eyes.
"Rhett..." she choked out, her voice cracking.
Rhett pulled the ring from the box, holding it gently between his large fingers.
"I am a dangerous man, Isa," Rhett whispered rasply, staring deep into her dark eyes. "My world is built on blood, shadow, and steel. But I swear to you on my life, as long as I am breathing, no harm will ever touch you again. You will be the Queen of this city."
Isa didn't hesitate. She reached out, sliding her left hand into his large palm, extending her ring finger.
"I don't care about the city, Rhett," she wept softly, a beautiful smile breaking across her face. "I just want to be yours."
Rhett slid the black diamond ring onto her finger. It fit perfectly.
He leaned down, cupping her face in both of his large hands, pulling her into a slow, deep, passionate kiss that tasted of salt, fire, and absolute victory.
Isa wrapped her arms tightly around his broad neck, pulling him down to her, letting the heat of his body consume her completely.
