Chapter 13 - The Vice President|

The boardroom went so quiet you could hear the hum of the air filtration system.

Henderson stared at Rhett, his jaw dropping open. "Vice President?! Mr. Valon... with all due respect, she's an assistant! She doesn't have the executive background to manage the port concessions—"

"Miss Voss has managed every single shipping permit, customs clearance, and port manifest for this firm for three years," Rhett interrupted coldly, stepping closer to Henderson's chair. "She knows more about our logistics operations than anyone in this room. Including you."

Rhett leaned over the table, his broad shoulders blocking the light, staring down at Henderson with terrifying intensity.

"And," Rhett added softly, "her authority on all port matters is absolute. If anyone in this room questions her decisions, your resignation will be on my desk by noon."

Henderson swallowed hard, his face turning pale as he nodded frantically. "Understood, Mr. Valon. Absolutely."

Isa stepped forward, placing her leather folder on the center of the mahogany table, opening it with a sharp, professional snap.

"Thank you, Mr. Valon," Isa said, her voice clear, confident, and completely commanding as she looked around the table at the silent directors. "Line item one on the Q4 budget is the immediate restructuring of Pier 42. Let's begin."

Rhett walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows, folding his arms across his broad chest, watching her take control of the room with a quiet, fierce pride burning in his chest.

The woman who had been broken on her apartment floor two weeks ago was now commanding an empire.
