Chapter 7 - The True Traitor|

Elena choked for air, her manicured fingers clawing at Silas's iron grip around her neck.
"It... it wasn't Matteo!" she gasped out, tears smearing her heavy makeup. "It wasn't... your captains!"
Silas narrowed his eyes, his grip tightening slightly. "Speak."
"Your wife's father!" Elena cried out, spilling the truth in pure terror. "Arthur Lynwood! He signed the authorization hours ago! He sold us the security codes! He wants Clara back under his control in Boston!"
Inside the panic room, my breath caught in my throat.
My father.
The man who had built the Lynwood empire. The man who had forced me into this marriage five years ago to secure his own trade routes. He hadn't just abandoned me to the Castigliones—he had orchestrated the entire siege to strip Silas of his power and take me and my unborn child back as bargaining chips.
On the monitor, Silas slowly released Elena's throat. She collapsed onto the floor, coughing violently.
Silas turned his head toward Matteo, who was whimpering against the desk, his hand still pinned by the pen.
"Arthur Lynwood is waiting at the private hangar at Midway Airport, isn't he?" Silas asked Matteo quietly.
Matteo nodded frantically, his face gray with shock and pain. "Yes! Yes! He has three transport planes ready! He’s taking Clara back to Boston as soon as Elena brings her down!"
Silas reached down, pulled the pen out of the desk with a brutal jerk—making Matteo scream again—and wiped the silver barrel on his sleeve.

"Thank you, Matteo," Silas said calmly.
Then he raised his combat sidearm and put a bullet through Matteo's forehead.
