Chapter 25 - The First FoundationA month later, the demolition crews arrived at the Greenwich estate. I stood beside Adrian on the edge of the property, wearing a hard hat, holding a remote detonator control.

The local news crews were staged a safe distance away, broadcasting the event live.

“Are you ready?” Adrian asked, his hand resting over mine on the control box.

When the dust settled, the blue sky above the property was completely clear, unblocked by the towering, pretentious rooflines of the past.

The crowd of local residents who had gathered on the perimeter road erupted into cheers.

I took off my hard hat, feeling the cool summer breeze blow through my hair, and smiled. The ground was clear. The slate was clean.
