Chapter 6 - The Trap is SetI didn't call the local police immediately. Julian’s high-priced legal team would have posted bail within two hours and erased the cloud backup servers before a formal search warrant could be issued.

Instead, I called Marcus Vance—the billionaire owner of the Vance Tower development project and a former Marine officer who treated me like a son.

Within thirty minutes, Marcus’s private legal team and two senior agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Financial Crimes Division joined a secure video call on my laptop.

I uploaded every audio file, steel invoice, and wire receipt from Julian’s flash drive directly to the federal server.

“Mr. Reyes,” the lead FBI agent declared, scanning the documents. “This is a slam-dunk case of corporate sabotage, wire fraud, and reckless endangerment. We have enough to secure an immediate federal arrest warrant.”

“Don't execute the warrant tonight,” I urged the agent, my eyes fixed on the rain-streaked window. “Let him show up at the Vance Tower board meeting tomorrow morning at nine AM. Let him think his plan succeeded.”

Samantha looked up at me from the floor, her voice trembling. “Danny... what about me? What happens to me?”

I looked down at her with cold, quiet detachment. The woman who had betrayed my trust was standing before me broken and terrified, but the romantic love I had once felt for her was completely dead.

“You’ll stay in my guest room tonight, Samantha,” I said softly. “Tomorrow morning, you’re going to stand in that boardroom and tell the truth.”
