Chapter 9 - The Map Revealed

Coulter spread a large topographical map of Wyoming across the table, comparing the coordinates on the tiny canvas to the surrounding terrain. The numbers pointed directly to a treacherous mountain ravine known as Dead Man's Pass, located twenty miles north of the ranch. The pass was notorious for sudden rockslides and remained choked with ice well into June. "If that gold is still there," Coulter said gravely, "it could clear our name and save the ranch. But if the syndicate discovers we know about it, they won't hesitate to kill us all."
