Coulter and Rafe moved swiftly, cutting off the fleeing men at the mouth of the canyon. "Drop your weapons!" Coulter commanded, his voice echoing loudly against the granite cliffs. The syndicate men, stunned and shaken by the cave-in, raised their hands immediately. They were mercenaries, not willing to die for a chest of gold they couldn't reach. Rafe quickly bound their wrists with leather ropes, securing them to a nearby pine tree while Coulter surveyed the dangerous, smoking entrance.
