Chapter 3 - The Unspoken Fear

Nora hesitated to tell Coulter about the cryptic letter. After twelve long years of grief, her father was finally smiling again, working alongside Rafe to rebuild the storm-damaged stables. She didn't want to shatter his fragile happiness. Instead, she brought the note to the kitchen while Edith was rolling fresh biscuit dough. Edith read the words twice, her pulse spiking. She remembered the strange men who used to linger around her late mother's house before it was seized by creditors. "This wasn't written by Silas," Edith whispered softly. "Someone else is coming."
