Chapter 7 - THE MIDNIGHT INTRUSION CAUGHT ON CAMERA

The trap finally snapped shut on a rainy Thursday night exactly twelve days after our initial confrontation at Miller’s Creamery. I was resting in my bedroom wearing a silk robe when the motion-sensor alert pinged silently on my smartphone, illuminating the dark room with a sharp blue glow. I switched to the live interior camera feed and froze in absolute horror: the screen showed Jasmine stepping out from my hallway fire-escape window into the living room, clad in dark athletic gear and clutching a heavy steel crowbar in one hand while a large backpack at her feet bulged with printed photographs and personal documents.
The high-definition footage captured every detail of her face—distorted by a manic, triumphant grin as she rifled through my private belongings. Without making a sound, I remained inside the secure master bedroom, locking the reinforced interior door while my fingers flew across my screen to dispatch an automated silent panic signal directly to local law enforcement.
