Chapter 2 - THE POISONED DOSSIER AT THE FIRM

The fallout materialized precisely on Monday morning before I had even reached the parking garage. My phone vibrated frantically with missed calls and urgent text messages, culminating in a direct order from my managing partner, Martin Hayes, to report to his office immediately. Stepping into his office, I found Martin staring grimly at a spread of digital screenshots covering his mahogany desk. The documents were sophisticated fabrications: fake emails, manipulated chat logs, and forged transcripts purporting to show me bragging about cheating on the bar exam, accepting bribes from professors, and embezzling funds from client trust accounts.

Though I laughed out of pure disbelief, the humor died instantly when Martin informed me that identical copies had already been transmitted directly to the State Bar disciplinary committee. By noon, human resources had opened an internal investigation, and by three o'clock, one of our largest corporate clients had called to express grave concern. The professional life I had sacrificed my twenties to build was actively being dismantled piece by piece by someone who knew my exact professional vulnerabilities.
