Chapter 6 - The ConfrontationThe pre-trial hearing for Lorena took place in a high-security courtroom downtown.

Dressed in a prison jumpsuit, stripped of her glamour, Lorena sat beside her defense team. Her lawyers attempted to argue that she suffered from psychological instability, attempting to secure a lenient sentence in a private facility.
Roberto took the witness stand, composed and formidable.
"Lorena did not suffer from instability," Roberto testified, his voice echoing with absolute authority through the crowded room. "She was calculating, cold, and cruel. She murdered my wife for money, and when that wasn't enough, she tortured a seven-year-old child to seize what remained."
The prosecutor presented the physical evidence: the transmitter removed from Leo's scalp, the financial ledgers, and the toxicological evidence from Elena’s exhumation.

When the judge asked if the defense had any further counter-arguments, Lorena broke down, shouting accusations at Roberto and cursing María from across the courtroom.
The judge slammed her gavel down hard. "The evidence is overwhelming. Bail is denied. The defendant will stand trial for first-degree murder, child abuse, and grand larceny."
