Chapter 8 - The Handcuffs and the Fall

Chaos erupted across the courtroom. Reporters scrambled for the exits to broadcast the breaking news, while cameras flashed frantically from the media gallery.
"This is an outrage!" Judge Sinclair roared, standing up and slamming his gavel onto the bench. "This is a fabrication orchestrated by a criminal syndicate!"
"The evidence includes seven hundred hours of encrypted wiretaps and unredacted offshore bank accounts provided by Romano Global Logistics," Director Hayes stated coldly. "Step down from the bench, Mr. Sinclair."
Two federal marshals walked up the wooden stairs of the bench, stripping the black robe from Sinclair's shoulders and clicking heavy steel handcuffs behind his back.
In the spectator row, Victoria sprang to her feet, screaming hysterically: "Father! No! Ethan, tell them to stop! You promised my father our families would merge!"
Ethan stopped beside Victoria’s pew, looking down at her with cold, unvarnished disgust.
"I promised to protect my family, Victoria," Ethan said, his voice cutting through her cries like ice. "And you made the fatal mistake of threatening my wife and daughter."
Two female FBI agents stepped forward, placing handcuffs around Victoria’s wrists as an accessory to federal wire fraud and conspiracy.
"You ruined me!" Victoria shrieked, weeping as she was dragged down the aisle past the flashing cameras. "You ruined my life!"
I stood beside Ethan, watching in complete, serene silence as the entire Sinclair syndicate collapsed in public disgrace.
As the marshals cleared the courtroom, Ethan turned to me. He reached into his suit pocket, pulling out the original Delaware divorce papers.

With a slow, deliberate motion, Ethan tore the documents in half, letting the pieces flutter to the courtroom floor.
"I never wanted to let you go, Bella," Ethan whispered, his eyes full of raw vulnerability. "And I will spend the rest of my life earning the right to be by your side."
