Chapter 12 - THE CONFRONTATION AT THE OAK DESK
The final confrontation happened at the lawyer’s office during the divorce mediation. Lorraine and Walter arrived looking arrogant and composed, clearly believing they could intimidate me into dropping the criminal charges in exchange for a "generous" settlement.
I walked into the room carrying the black folder—the one that contained the evidence the police had passed back to me for personal records. I laid it on the oak desk and opened it to a page showing the wire transfers. When I told them exactly what would happen if they didn't sign the terms, the silence in the room was absolute. They realized then that their reign of terror was over.
