Chapter 7 - Breaking the EmpireRodrigo’s eyes went wide with pure terror. He took a staggering step back, almost tripping over a patio chair.

"Aegis..." Rodrigo stammered, his voice cracking. "You... you are the mystery investor who bought our debt?"
"I am," Valentina replied smoothly, taking a slow step toward him. "Ten years ago, you and Patricia stood on a stage and laughed at my parents because they worked hard with their hands. You called us servants. You thought your family names made you immortal."
She turned her eyes back to Patricia, whose face was completely stripped of color.
"Patricia," Valentina continued, her tone conversational yet lethal. "Your father’s hotel chain defaulted on its loan payment at noon today. Aegis Capital chose not to extend the credit line. As of thirty minutes ago, foreclosure proceedings have begun on all seven of your family's hotels."
Patricia dropped her champagne glass. It shattered against the stone patio, spilling golden liquid over her red designer heels. "You... you can't do this! That's my family's legacy!"
"Legacy built on arrogance dies quickly in the real world," Valentina said coldly. "And Rodrigo... your real estate company’s assets have been frozen pending a tax audit requested by my legal team. By tomorrow morning, both of your families will officially be broke."
The crowd of classmates watched in absolute horror. The powerful elite who had ruled San Rafael were being stripped of their fortunes in real time on the very lawn where they used to play.

"Please, Valentina!" Patricia cried out, stepping forward, all her former pride vanishing into desperate tears. "We were just kids! High school was ten years ago! You can't ruin our lives over a joke!"
Valentina paused, looking down at the weeping woman who had once made her life a living hell.
