THE QUEEN OF SAN RAFAEL / Chapter 6 / 10

Chapter 6 - Confrontation on the LawnValentina crossed the green lawn with tall, deliberate steps, her high heels sinking rhythmically into the plush turf. She carried herself with the calm, terrifying presence of someone who owned everything her eyes touched.

Behind her walked Mateo Vane, carrying a slim leather briefcase.

Patricia’s face turned from smug superiority to a deathly, chalky pale. She stared at Valentina, trying to reconcile the shy, hunched girl in the secondhand uniform with the commanding goddess walking toward her.

Valentina stopped ten feet from the group. She reached up with a manicured hand and slowly took off her dark sunglasses, revealing honey-colored eyes that burned with icy clarity.

"Hello, Patricia," Valentina said, her voice smooth, calm, and effortlessly carrying across the silent lawn. "It’s been ten years."

Patricia swallowed hard, her hand trembling so badly her champagne glass rattled. She forced a fake, tight smile. "Valentina... you... you look different. Did you rent that helicopter just to make an entrance? You shouldn't have spent your savings on a illusion."

A few weak snickers attempted to break out among the crowd, but they died quickly as Mateo stepped forward and opened his briefcase.

"Miss Ruiz doesn't rent, Patricia," Mateo said quietly. "She owns the charter company. She also owns the Royal Marbella Golf Club you are standing on."

A collective gasp echoed through the crowd.

"What?" Rodrigo gasped, his face flushing red as he stepped forward. "That’s impossible! This club was acquired by Aegis Capital last month!"

Valentina turned her cold gaze onto Rodrigo. "Precisely, Rodrigo. And I am the sole owner of Aegis Capital."
