Chapter 3 - An Unplanned EncounterOn Monday morning, Hannah received an unexpected phone call from an executive recruitment agency. She was invited for an interview at the Caldwell Corporate Tower—not for a waitress position, but for a high-paying executive hospitality management role.

Confused but desperate, Hannah put on her best white blouse and navy trousers, pinning her hair up neatly, and headed downtown.
When she was escorted to the top floor, the secretary opened the massive oak doors into a sunlit executive suite. Hannah walked inside, her heart pounding.
Standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows, wearing a tailored black three-piece suit and a pristine silk tie, was the man from the rain.
He was cleanly shaved, his dark hair styled perfectly, radiating power, wealth, and an undeniable aura of authority.
Hannah stopped dead in her tracks, her mouth dropping open. "You..."
Julian turned around slowly, resting his hands in his pockets. The sharp gray eyes were the exact same ones that had studied her under the hotel awning.
"Miss Moore," Julian said, his deep voice smooth and commanding. "Thank you for coming."

"You weren't drunk," Hannah gasped, anger and confusion flushing her cheeks. "You were playing a game! You made me lose my job for a social experiment?!"
"I was conducting an internal audit of my property," Julian corrected calmly, stepping toward her. "And while I regret that Preston Vale treated you unjustly, you were the only person in that lobby who passed the real test."
