Chapter 10 - Where Love BelongsOne year later.

The Grand Ballroom of the Drake Hotel was once again filled with Chicago's prominent figures, but tonight was not a corporate gala. It was a true celebration—a renewal of vows and a celebration of the opening of the Leora Carter Pediatric Hospital Wing.
Soft orchestral music played as Leora, now seven years old, perfectly healthy, and radiant in a white lace dress, walked down the aisle scattering white rose petals.
At the altar stood Kevin, dressed in a sharp navy tuxedo, his dark eyes fixed entirely on the woman walking toward him.
Victoria looked breathtaking in an elegant off-the-shoulder lace bridal gown. Her face held no trace of the cold, guarded Ice Queen; she radiated pure joy, love, and contentment.
When she reached the altar, Kevin took her hands in his, lacing his fingers tightly with hers.
The minister smiled warmly at the couple. "Kevin and Victoria, one year ago, you made vows before the law. Today, you make them before your family and loved ones. Kevin, do you take Victoria to be your wedded wife, to love, honor, and cherish through every storm?"
"I do," Kevin said, his voice deep, strong, and unwavering. "With all my heart."
"And Victoria, do you take Kevin to be your wedded husband, to stand by his side, share his life, and love him unconditionally?"
Victoria looked into Kevin’s eyes, her smile bright and teardrops of happiness shining in her eyes. "I do."
"By the power vested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife—forever."
The room erupted into thunderous applause. Kevin pulled Victoria close, dipping her gently as he kissed her passionately. Leora ran up, throwing her arms around both of their legs, laughing with pure happiness.
Later that evening, as the sun set over Lake Michigan, casting a golden glow across the city, Kevin and Victoria stood on the balcony of their home, watching Leora play joyfully inside with her friends.
Victoria rested her head against Kevin’s chest, feeling the strong, steady beat of his heart.
"Do you remember the night you delivered that sushi?" Victoria asked softly, a playful smile on her lips.
Kevin laughed, wrapping his arms securely around her waist. "I thought you were the scariest customer I’d ever met."
"And now?" she whispered, looking up at him.
